About the Brand
Everything began 80 years ago when Riccardo Ceretto decided to transform the energy of the unique land and soil of the Piemontese area as a place to grow the first vineyards.
The same energy and heritage was continued by his sons Bruno and Marcello, their creativity and farsightedness led to the family name being one the most known in the world of wine.
In less than 30 years they created a small group of independent wineries on the Langhe and Roero hills, which together produce what now makes up the total Ceretto wine portfolio. They brought and selected more than 120 hectares of the best situated land in the region to produce wines that have been given approval by the worlds most experienced palates. The Barolo brothers (the nickname given to Bruno and Marcello abroad) since 1960's have never lost their vision to produce high quality Piemontese wines whilst always respecting tradition. A never ending challenge which has been inherited with great enthusiasm by next generation of the Ceretto family, Alessandro, Federico, Lisa and Roberta.
Do you know?
- Two of Italy’s most majestic, powerful red wines – Barolo and Barbaresco – come from Piedmont. Like great red Bordeaux, they can be and often are aged a decade or more before being drunk.
- Barolo and Barbaresco are made from the nebbiolo grape, a highly site-specific variety known for its forceful tannin.
- The name nebbiolo comes from nebbia, the fog that often settles over Piedmont in late October, during the harvesting.
- Piemont’s leading white wine is made from Arneis grape, which makes a bold, fresh wine of the same name.
