About the Brand
“TOMMASI Viticoltori” (Tommasi vintners) is a family viticultural firm founded in 1902 by Giacomo Tommasi. It is situated in Pedemonte, in the heart of the historic Valpolicella Classico region (part of Veneto region) which extends to the northwest of Verona, Italy. Today the estate is run by the 4th generation of family operation, 6 members working together in complete harmony, each with his well defined area of responsibility. The TOMMASI wines tell the story of a family that believes in honest labour and love of the land; a family that lives in harmony and has made the attainment of excellence a moral imperative.
Do you know?
- Two of Italy’s most well-known and widely exported wines come from Veneto region: Soave, a white, and Valpolicella, a red.
- Some Veneto wines, both dry and sweet, are made by a special process known as recioto, which concentrates sugar in the grapes by drying them during few months.
- The Veneto’s great dry red, amarone, is also made by recioto method. Raisinated grapes lose up to third of their weight, mostly water. As a result wine produced from such grapes is opulent, full-bodied, and at 15 to 16 percent alcohol, with a portlike body and deep bitter chocolate, mocha, dried figs flavours.
